9. Claridge Building
In 1971, this building was completed and furnished with many Victorian era items on display. Photographs and textiles are examples of everyday Victorian life, with exhibits of a kitchen, bedroom, and sitting rooms.
The seamstress shop has examples of several decades of clothing and accessories, including wedding dresses, uniforms, and everyday clothes. The seamstress was a valued member of the village as clothing became more detailed. Although cloth could be purchased at the general store, the clothing was made individually, not off the rack as is common today. These fittings were a special occasion, complete with comfortable chairs, carpets, and perhaps tea, creating an intimate and welcome experience.
